Husby Repeats at Michigan!

Brooklyn, MI -- On Thursday the NASRA Cup series ventured into the Michigan International Speedway for the running of the 3M 200. Mike Husby led the field to the green flag for his 3rd career pole and 2nd pole at the Michigan International Speedway, Dave Collard would start on the outside of the front row making it a Husby Motorsports front row.

The race got under way with Husby leading the first 9 laps, Pete Engelmanas, Eric Monaco and Jordan Robson would get by Husby and would lead the next 30 laps of the race. Husby suffered a connection problem falling out of the server on lap 17.

The caution would fly on lap 39 allowing the leaders to pit for 4 tires and fuel. Husby who had fallen out of the server would be saved by this caution and got back on the lead lap the hard way.

With 6 cars on the lead lap, it would set up a mad scramble on the restart with many drivers spreading out the entire width of the track 3 and 4 wide into turn 1. Coming off of turn 2 though Thomas Mohl Jr. would set off a chain reaction involving Johnny Williams as well as Tyler Ellery rolling over on the back straightaway.

Again caution would come out quickly some drivers decided to pit for fuel and 2 tires, and some would stay out. Three lapped cars would stay out to try and help their chances of getting back on the lead lap. Eric Monaco led the field to the restart, and would pull away from the field until his engine let go in turn 1 collecting team mate Johnny Williams and Jordan Robson.

After Monaco had retired from the race, it looked like it was going to be between on track rivals and good friends, Mike Husby and Pete Engelmanas. They would lead the field back to the restart and battle it out for the lead in the last 20 laps.

With pit stops coming with about 8 laps to go, Pete Engelmanas came into the pits in the lead with Mike Husby following him down pit road. Pete Engelmanas overshot his pit and would have to back up losing valuable time on pit road. Husby had an amazing stop and would come back on track with Jake Willams leading the race.

Husby would run down Jake Williams and battle him for the lead for about 2 laps. But after getting around Jake Williams, Husby would never look back and would repeat for the 2nd year in a row at the Michigan International Speedway.

Husby wins, Jake Williams 2nd, Pete Engelmanas rallied back for 3rd, Cory Spencer 4th and Dave Collard would round out the top 5.

Next week the NASRA Cup series heads to the Kansas Speedway for the LifeLock 175 dont miss it!
